Recreation On Tap?
Six cruise lines anchor tour boats at the Port's 400-foot "Gateway Dock," bringing several thousand tourists each year up the Columbia and Snake Rivers to Clarkston. The dock is ideally situated for visitors to board a jetboat for a wild, whitewater ride up the Snake into Hells Canyon, North America's deepest river gorge. Granite Lake Recreational Vehicle Park now open for business and has great view of river and clubhouse for use to those staying in the park. A public marina, complete with restaurant, pump-out station, bath house and boat launch also occupy Port property. An RV park is in progress, and future plans call for a day-use park and other recreational projects. Proposals are welcome. Good Place To Meet Holding meetings or boarding out-of-town businesses associates is easy at the Port of Clarkston.
Retail? Potential retail expansion is another option on or near the Port of Clarkston. A 155,000 square-foot Price-Costco store opened next door in 1993 and draws customers from a 150-mile radius. Downtown Clarkston is just a short walk from Port operations as well. |
