Tucked away in the southeast corner of Washington is Asotin County, the place where Washington's day begins. Hells Canyon, the Snake River, the Lewis-Clark Trail, a mild climate and lots of wildlife top our region?s natural resources. From industry to tourism, this small area offers big opportunities.

Industrial Strength

The Port of Clarkston operates one of the largest cranes on a navigable river east of Portland. The crane is capable of moving logs, containers, and other cargo. As a far inland seaport, many large yachts are sent up the river from Portland and loaded on trucks bound for Texas, Indiana, and other inland states. Boats have been moved that are up to 78 feet in length and weigh more than 90,000 pounds.

Commercial land is available near the waterfront and throughout the city and county. All Port property available for lease is ready to build. Utilities, including water, sewer, and power, are in place. Warehousing for storage or industrial businesses is conveniently located near the Port. The Port commissioners are committed to creating jobs and expanding economic development within Asotin County.

At Gateway Dock there is 580 feet of dock to accomodate cruise ships from Portland and Astoria each week. Gateway Dock has two ramps leading to it, all secured with fencing due to the Homeland Security Act.

Getaway Destination

As the gateway to Hells Canyon, North America's deepest gorge, Clarkston has the market on recreational opportunities. Outdoor recreationists find the year round mild climate to their liking for golf, hiking, biking, rafting, Sorry, your browser doesn't support Java(tm). jet boating, hunting, and fishing top the list of activities on the world-famous Snake River. Our location on the historic Lewis and Clark Trail entices more visitors each year to walk in the footsteps of the explorers.

Events held throughout the calendar year draw thousands to our valley. Sprint boat and mini-hydroplane races, Sunflower Days and Christmas Lighting...there's something for everyone. Your event or conference can be added to the list with valley convention facilities and many hotels to choose from. An RV park on the water allows easy access to the miles of levee paths.

Need a place to moor your boat? The marina accommodates everything from personal watercraft to recreational boats and yachts.

If it's shopping you're craving, downtown Clarkston features over 150 shops with everything from lumber to hardware and specialty clothing stores to bulk-buying at a warehouse store.
